After a break and getting my new Maton Bill may I have come up with a number of new chord progressions.. I have been trying different keys to write in to give different voicing to the songs. I note you come up with slightly different melodies when you try songs in different keys.. Exciting contemplating new songs. Also I am thinking about the piano according to throw into recordings after being inspired watching Mumford and sons sound. Stay Tuned.
Songs need a beginning middle and end and sometimes it is good to construct three boxes to see your ideas form after you have done your 10 minute writes and extracted ideas which you want to develop. The example given with the songwriting course I saw.. Box 1.. You walk in where and see an ex partner and they look ...... Box 2.. It makes you feel >>>>>>>>> Box 3. All you wanted from the relationship was +++++++++++.. This is great technique to try for people who want to learn songwriting..
Try the ten minute write. Write on any topic for ten minutes without stopping. Do this with friends family. You will be fascinated the memories and ideas that pop into your head as you do it.. Also the conversations discussing what you write pops up. A grammy award winning writer i heard talk said he did this every morning..
